International Yoga Day 2019 – Join the Massive Health Movement

The 5th International Yoga Day is set to be observed across the globe on 21st June 2019. People from different parts of the world will join the mission to raise awareness about the health benefits associated with yoga.

In addition to that, the celebrations of international yoga day 2019 will revolve around the theme “Climate Action”. The Yoga Diwas celebrations will be followed by a panel discussion at the United Nations.

Understanding Yoga-

Yoga is an ancient Indian practice. Since time immemorial, Indian sages have employed Yoga to establish a connection between the body & the mind.

It is considered as one of the most efficacious means of exercising that involves breathing techniques, meditation & physical postures for relaxation of mind & body.

However, maintaining physical postures & achieving fitness were never primary goals of Yoga. The ancient yoga practitioners & followers focused on expanding spiritual energy and achieving spiritual & ascetic discipline by breathing methods & mental focus.

The six branches of Yoga include Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga & Tantra Yoga.

History of Yoga Day-

June 21st, the longest day of the year & the day of summer solstice, was announced as the International Yoga Day by the UN General Assembly on 11th December 2014. The Declaration was made several months after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the idea in his speech at the UN general Assembly.

The first International Yoga Day was observed on 21st June 2015 wherein around 200 Million people from all around the world practiced yoga with great enthusiasm.

Yoga at Rajpath, New Delhi

India observed yoga celebrations on a grand scale, since the declaration of World Yoga Day was made on India’s initiative. Over 35985 people from 85 distinct countries practiced yoga on Rajpath, New Delhi for 35 minutes. Indian PM Narendra Modi participated & led this world’s biggest yoga event.

Theme for 5th International Yoga Day:

The Theme for the 5th International Yoga Day, as announced at the United Nations, is “Climate Action”. Participants of International yoga day 2019 will not only practice yoga but also focus on the environment conservation techniques.

Yoga Day Celebrations will be followed by a panel discussion at the UN General Assembly.

In India, the main event of International Yoga Day 2019 will be held in Ranchi, capital of Indian State Jharkhand.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host the event & practice Yoga with Chief Minister Ragubar Das, senior officers of the state & 18,000 participants. The event will kick-start at Prabhat Tara Ground at 6:30 am & continue for next 45 minutes.
