Kheer <\/strong>is an integral part of the Indian Cuisine<\/strong>. The dish has its origins traced to ancient India. The word Kheer<\/strong> comes from the Sanskrit word for milk i.e. ksheer (\u0915\u094d\u0937\u0940\u0930). This dessert<\/strong> has been made though out the globe for ages now. Variation of the recipe, but the basic recipe and ingredients being the same, have been found in Iran, Indian subcontinent and a lot of other parts of the world.<\/p>\n

The basic recipe involves boiling of milk<\/strong>, dry fruits<\/strong> like almonds<\/strong>, cashews<\/strong>, pistachios<\/strong>, raisins<\/strong>, with sugar<\/strong> or jaggery<\/strong> and rice<\/strong>, tapioca<\/strong> pearls<\/strong> or vermicelli<\/strong>. Use of Saffron<\/strong> is entirely up to your taste & choice. Today we are making Vermicelli Pudding<\/strong> or Sewaiyon Ki Kheer<\/strong>. It takes about 20 minutes to cook and the outcome is an amazingly lip smacking and delectable dessert. This is a beginner\u2019s dessert recipe<\/strong>. \u00a0<\/strong>In South India Kheer is referred to as payesh <\/strong>or payasam.<\/strong> Sewaiyon Ki Kheer is a 2000 year old dish and is still a staple Hindu temple food served as Prasad or Prasadam to the devotees.<\/p>\n
