The Social Media Giant, Facebook, is again being taken captive by the scammers to push Tech Support Scam & carry out their suspicious activities.<\/p>\n

This ongoing Facebook Tech Support Scam takes the advantage of a facebook Sharer Page to intimidate the innocent users. The Scam page compels the user to think that there\u2019s an issue with their Facebook account. \u00a0The scared users will then give a call to the numbers displaying on the facebook sharer page, hoping for a resolution to the issue. However, calling the numbers will make the user land up at the scammer\u2019s end.<\/p>\n

A facebook sharer page consists of a dialog that is frequently used by the web site owners to share their thoughts & subject matter effectively on Facebook. They create https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/sharer\/sharer.php URL followed by the assertion of the page they would like to share. The hyperlink is then attached to a button or link on the publisher\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

In case the visitors click on the assigned button, they will be persuaded to share the dedicated page on Facebook.<\/p>\n

In this latest facebook scam, the scammers are smartly making the use of low quality ad networks that are generally used by adware and other malicious software to redirect the visitors to Facebook Sharer page. The motive behind redirecting the users is to persuade them to share a page from fbsupport.pro.<\/p>\n

In the event, a user is already logged in to facebook account, Share on Facebook dialog will be displayed with a spooky message from the \u201cFacebook Support Team\u201d stating that a suspicious activity has been registered by the team. Followed by a warning that the account could be hacked and calling the support team will help restore the access to Facebook account.<\/p>\n

The warning takes innocent users into thinking that some malignant activity has taken place with their account, leading them to call the numbers mentioned in the dialog.<\/p>\n

Calling the numbers make the users land up at the scammer\u2019s end, wherein the users are greeted by a foreign person claiming that he is from Facebook Tech Support. The person will then request the users to provide him the remote access to their systems in order to fix the problems.<\/p>\n

Further, it is assumed that the person would try to sell users unnecessary software & services.<\/p>\n

It can be noted that scammers are continuously evolving their devious tricks to give their Facebook Scam a convincing look. Therefore, Facebook users are requested to be alert and research before calling any of the numbers displaying in the dialog in case they come across any such warning on web.<\/p>\n
